Competencies:

  • As Art Director of our small firm, you will often be asked to contribute to both strategy and tactics. This means we’re looking for someone who can contribute to the big picture, while also being able to get involved in day-to-day production work as a designer
  • When working as a project lead, your role will involve liaising with clients, managing budgets, setting timelines, and problem-solving
  • There will also be times when you will be the primary or only designer on a project, and will be tasked to produce large and small-scale content. This might include content for online campaigns (social media shareables, websites, etc.) and print collateral (infographics, signage, brochures, etc.)
  • Our team members are “T-shaped” people who strive to take on new skills and are always willing to help others. MediaStyle works collaboratively and you will be a part of continuing to build an inclusive and positive environment

 

Responsibilities:

  • Direct and support the MediaStyle graphics team in the design, production, and implementation of graphic materials related to marketing, communications and public relations activities
  • Coordinate multiple projects with input and direction from all team members
  • Layout and design deliverables for a range of clients
  • Stay on top of all things design related, including best practices, guidelines and trends
  • Explore and experiment with new ways of presenting information to users
  • Identify opportunities to bring in new clients or find solutions for our current clients

Experience and skills:

  • 5+ years in design role, with at least 2 years of experience mentoring other graphic designers
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign specifically) and Macintosh OS a must, as demonstrated in a relevant portfolio
  • Excellent creative and conceptualization skills with an ability to adapt to established styles as well as create new and diverse ones
  • You have an ability to develop thoughtful concepts and authentic storytelling
  • Experience working directly with the public and clients
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and deliver on complex projects
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and management skills—must be able to manage multiple priorities, people and deadlines; must be able to work independently and as part of a team in a positive work environment
  • Academic degree or technical diploma in design an asset
  • French language skills would be considered an asset
  • Strong skills in After Effects, and Premiere Pro considered an asset
  • Strong skills in illustration and typography an asset

 

Remuneration:

  • Salary range is $55,000 to $65,000 commensurate to experience
