Best for the World: Workers

MediaStyle has been awarded the Best for the World: Workers for the fourth year in a row. It is an honour to be recognized alongside other B Corps around the world. The Worker category focuses on how a company treats its workers through compensation, benefits, training as well as corporate culture, worker health and safety among other things. 

Every business owner knows you are only as good as your team, and while this may sound a bit cliché, it is true. Over the past 10 years, MediaStyle has ranged from one employee to 15 employees. No matter the number, building a healthy, happy environment has been an on-going goal.

 

Office culture and team dynamics have always been one of our main focuses and over the last four years we have worked alongside our team to increase salaries and benefits as well as to further incorporate the B Corp values into our culture.

 

Being “Best for the World” in any category is a great honour, but it is especially rewarding because it means that we are doing the right things for the right people. 

 

The work that we do as a team is both challenging and rewarding. We want to create a space for our team to learn, thrive and grow while also doing the important work to make the world better. Our team carries a heavy load on this and we want to make sure that we recognize it. It’s great to be seen externally with awards such as these, but for us, it is much more important that we recognize our team internally by ensuring they feel supported and cared for.

 

In addition to raising salaries regularly, we’ve also invested in a fitness bonus, free health care with additional coverage for health and wellness, a sales bonus system, professional development funds, as well as fun outings and team lunches.

To be a Best For The World: Workers honoree, a company is assessed for its relationship with its workforce. The B Impact Assessment Workers category measures how the company treats its workers through compensation, benefits, training and ownership opportunities provided to workers. The category also focuses on the overall work environment within the company by assessing management/worker communication, job flexibility, corporate culture, and worker health and safety practices.
