Tenacity Act 3: Hampers and Media Training for the Boys and Girls Club

Who are they?

The Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa (BGCO) has served the Ottawa community since 1923, providing 4,500 children and youth in seven at-risk neighbourhoods across the city with a safe place during after-school and weekend hours. BGCO offers a variety of programs that allow children and youth to experience new opportunities, overcome barriers, build positive relationships, and develop confidence and skills for life.

Why did MediaStyle want to help?

Just like our friends at BGCO, MediaStyle is dedicated to improving outcomes for everyone. The organization’s pillars such as education, healthy lifestyles, and creative arts, which aligns perfectly with how we align our business.

BGCO reaches thousands of kids and youth every year, providing free activities and resources. From after school homework help, to summer camps, to their gift giving programs during the holidays, BGCO helps give the kids of Ottawa the tools and skills they need to become community leaders.

How are we helping?

The BGCO has several programs running throughout the holiday season to give gifts to their members and families. MediaStyle assisted two of these programs by helping provide a Holiday Hamper to one of the families and donated to help fund their holiday parties. Additionally, we will be providing media training to members of their staff at no cost.

This is one of our Ten Acts of Tenacity, commemorating MediaStyle’s 10th anniversary. Throughout January, we will be announcing a series of donations, fundraising initiatives, and pro-bono support aimed at celebrating those making change in our community. This is our way of saying “thank you” to all those who have supported us in during our first decade in business.
