Preparation and confident delivery can make or break a television appearance. Below are MediaStyle’s top tips for on-camera interviews.
Look the part
It’s difficult for cameras to focus on small patterns and stripes. For interviews, stick to solid colours and bring extra makeup in case you need touch-ups. Before the interview begins, ask the reporter where you should look.
Know your messaging
We’re fans of the “Dirty 30”, a document with the 30 questions you’re most likely
to be asked by media or opponents. Preparing answers before crunch time and being able to communicate responses eloquently will make interviews less stressful, and you’ll look more confident when answering tough questions.
Keep your answers short
Media look for clips that run below 10 seconds. Keep your answers concise, put your most important messages first and follow them up with facts. Take a few seconds to think of your response if needed.
