Spotlight on: Awesome Live Blogs

By Vanessa King · October 1, 2015

Running a live blog is a fantastic way to proactively communicate during an event. Our recent live blog of the Munk Debate had nearly 3,500 views and was featured on a national news site. Below are our tips for live blogging.

Add value

Live tweeting is so 2012, and nobody is entertained by a play-by-play of something they’re already watching. Go beyond a running dialogue on your live blog. Include reactions, senses and background information.

Pull in multimedia

Storify is a free tool that enables you to easily add multimedia to words. You can search Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and more by keyword and literally drag and drop other people’s posts into your live blog. Storify events can be embedded in websites for extra value.

Organize your content

Most live blogs posts are organized from newest post to oldest, but this might not make sense for your event. Think of how people can best read and understand your content, especially after the event is over. It might easier to organize your blog by topic or speaker.
