In 2016, Arboretum Music Festival celebrated its fifth year in Ottawa. With a commitment to gender balance among headliners and the inclusion of Indigenous land acknowledgments, the event demonstrates many of the core values that MediaStyle also holds close, and we were pleased to take the festival on as a pro-bono client.
MediaStyle worked with Arboretum Festival in two capacities: We provided pro-bono communications strategy support, as well as set-up our social communications lab, The Commons, on site.
Part of the media relations strategy on behalf of Arboretum Festival involved creating a list of media influencers that could be pitched stories relating to the festival. MediaStyle actively engaged these media outlets and invited them to cover the festival, including the Night Market and Relentlessly Progressive speaker series.
MediaStyle provided support by designing Arboretum event banners, collateral materials for the MediaStyle tent, as well as SnapChat geofilters for use during the festival.
MediaStyle created a short term communication plan for Arboretum Festival that included creating capitalizing on the festival’s fifth anniversary, their commitment to equity, and by promoting the events through social channels.
MediaStyle partnered with Arb to host a Relentlessly Progressive Talks series in our social communications lab, The Commons.
MediaStyle hosted a day-long session of five discussion forums. Topics included:
MediaStyle built and provided our Power to the People charging station at Arb, providing a lounge space for people to charge their phones, listen to Relentlessly Progressive talks and connect with each other.
MediaStyle showcased our designers’ artwork on prints, tees and tanktops. These were sold at The Commons Bar at Arb, where we also provided refreshments to thirsty festival-goers.
