Ian Capstick, Principal

Ian has over a decade of professional political and communications experience. He has worked for cabinet ministers and opposition members in the House of Commons, including some of Canada’s most colourful and influential political minds from both the New Democrats and Liberals. Ian is passionate about creating social change through communications. An experienced media coach, political tactician and engaging speaker he is now quoted widely in Canada’s media. He is a regular on Power & Politics on CBC News Channel and is a go-to source for comment on the changing world of communications. He was named Xtra Canada’s Political Activist of the Year in their annual Hero Awards. Ian sits on the Boards of Director’s for Forum for Young Canadians, is an active advisor to LeadNow.ca and chairs Ottawa’s LGBTQ Village committee. His opinion work has been published in the Ottawa Citizen, Globe and Mail and PostMedia newspapers across Canada. He has been featured on CTV National News, CBC’s The National and was on Global’s national election coverage team in 2011.

Travis Boisvenue, Senior Producer

Travis is an accomplished writer, editor and producer who joined MediaStyle in 2010. He has hosted a hyper-local radioshow and continues to take to the airwaves once a week on CHUO. Travis has worked on many of MediaStyle’s video projects as a writer, editor, videographer, and even travelled to Iqaluit to assist with the production of a web documentary on aboriginal health. He has written for the Ottawa Citizen and OpenFile among others and continues to work as a freelance writer.

Samantha Burns, Producer

Sam is a writer and social media specialist with extensive experience in online communications. She created and fostered an online community for The Canadian Federation of University Women, and handled the social media accounts of a number of prominent political figures as a writer for the New Democratic Party of Canada. A native Sudburian with a background in screenwriting, film and theatre, she has produced short films and plays. Sam is fascinated by the game-changing evolution of social and digital media, and is excited to be exploring this new frontier as a member of the MediaStyle team.

Gabriela Warrior Renaud, Producer

Gabriela specialized in film production at Concordia University. Since joining the team, she has been a part of all of MediaStyle’s video and audio projects, maintains the MediaStyle Studio and writes about video for the blog. Gabriela continues to create video and photography projects outside of MediaStyle.

Daniel Kaunisviita, Producer

Dan has handled publicity and managed social media campaigns on behalf of film festivals, art galleries and artist-run centres. Dan helps clients manage social media, produce web content, and coordinate online communities. His passion for non-traditional mediums is reflected in his role as principal programmer of PLACEmachine.com, an emerging Canadian electronic art and music label.

David MacIntyre, Associate Producer

Dave joined MediaStyle in 2011 and became an associate producer shortly after. Originally from Victoria, BC, he moved to Ottawa to study Political Science and Communication at the University of Ottawa. At MediaStyle he has assisted clients in harnessing social media, organizing innovative events, and producing persuasive promotional materials. David is an officer and an instructor with the Canadian Cadet Organizations and pilots small aircraft in his spare time.

Darner Media

Tom Leroux is an integral part of MediaStyle. His technical expertise keeps the MediaStyle studio, office and computers in working order. Constantly bringing us news of the latest technical developments on our Apple machines, Tom has streamlined operations at the studio and regularly digs Ian out of technical missteps.

Jaime Woo

A Toronto-based storyteller, Jaime Woo has mastered the art of the watchable web video. Traveling the world with his trusty DSLR and a knack for finding moments to capture, Jaime covers events and people like few others.

Wet Frog Studio

Aaron Mahnke is a tour-de-force. American, a proud Dad and simply one of the best graphic designers MediaStyle collaborates with. You’ve seen his work on many MediaStyle invitations and if you’ve ever recieved a box of cupcakes from us, Aaron is the man behind the signature label.
