A New Democrat MP and a Deputy Speaker of the House, Denise Savoie, has echoed sentiments from former leader, Ed Broadbent, and countless New Democrats from coast-to-coast-to-coast, and is boldly suggesting a name change for the New Democrats. In an “exclusive” interview with Public Eye, the Victoria MP suggests calling the party simply the Democratic Party of Canada. She confirms her riding association is considering placing a motion at the party convention in Halifax. I’m all in favour of the change. I hope the provincial parties quickly follow Ms. Savoie’s lead. No time like now!
Everything “New” is old again
