Here is how the CBC Radio’s “Q” sums up our next video:

“Q was visited by country-pop band The Boxmasters.  The Boxmasters’ biggest claim to fame is their singer is Oscar-winner Billy Bob Thornton.  If you were listening, you heard what could best be described as a ‘showdown at the Q corral’ when Mr. Thornton took offense to our mention of his cinematic accomplishments.”

I think perhaps TMZ.com summed it up a little better:

“…a few words about Billy’s film career… caused Billy to become a massive d-bag for the rest of the interview.  You have to watch it, unless you wanna continue to like Billy Bob.”

The story for me isn’t the meltdown by Billy Bob Thornton.  The story is the quality of the CBC interviewer, Jian Ghomeshi.  Ghomeshi held his cool with a remarkably hostile guest and to his credit didn’t throw the whole band (and their Academy Award winning actor) out of the studio.  Less experienced hosts may have melted down right along side Billy Bob.  Ghomeshi didn’t.  This tape will be in the training reel at CBC radio for a while.  (In case you were wondering, my favorite part of the meltdown is at around the 11:00 minute mark when Billy attempts to incite us “passive Canadians” by suggesting we are “All mashed potatoes, no gravy.”  Hey, Billy Bob?  Want to piss us off?  Insult hockey.)
